  1. You’re an inspiration. Your morals are fantastic and you say it in a way people will actually listen. Thank you for standing up for the people out there who aren’t OK with page three or slagging off immigrants or being forced to breast feed in private. Keep it up Hollie!

  2. A friend put a link on their facebook page for mathematics and I’ve now been up most of the night watching your poems on YouTube.
    Thank you.
Thank you for saying these things (and in such a beautiful way)
Thank you for showing me that I’m not stupid or naive or insane or hysterical or any of the other accusations thrown at me for thinking and feeling what I do.
Thank you for demonstrating that being a feminist doesn’t mean you hate all men or sex
    Thank you for your poetry.

  3. Apart from your obvious great beauty, I salute your youthfulness and your idealism, but I feel that I must register my opposition to your opinion, by implication, that the present state and rate of immigration into this United Kingdom were still somehow beneficial to this said Country—it is not, and I say this as a foreigner sojourning in England.

To take an example, perhaps closer to your heart, if you would pardon me for the pun:—breastfeeding. I don’t think that there would still be anyone breastfeeding in England, if half of the population of England were to have recently originated from parts of the Far East behind the Great Wall, or from the Indus river valley, or both, now, would you?

You do see that different peoples have different cultures, and that they bring their own ethnic cultures with them whenever they go, and are bound to displace the national cultures of their new host Countries, if their sheer numerical numbers are absolute enough, do you not?

    I rest, your humble servant,

    K. C. Chu.

Hull, E. R. Yorks. (né Hongkong).

  4. 19 years ago I was asked to move in McDonalds because my discreet breastfeeding could cause offence to families. I refused and eventually received an apology from head office. Hollie is amazing and captivating and what she says is unfortunately to true.

  5. Hello Hollie…saw your video on do the math and comments about our immigrants. I was totally blown away by your firm yet compassionate understanding of the issues. I have played it several times, posted it to my timeline on facebook and shared it with my canadian and american friends. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing (social media can be a wonderful thing). Ken Allan (canada) kwheatstone@hotmail.ca

  6. I don’t know if you will have chance to read this comment, but still i would like to say man You are good! love your poetry, and the rhymes. keep it up girl!! 🙂

  7. Hollie, I have now stumbled across two of your tomes by accident..the breastfeeding in public and the mathematics of immigration. It is a rare move on my part to ever partake in these comments/reply things, but I wanted you to know that I think your work is truly inspirational. Please keep it up!…. You deserve fame…not for the vanity of it, but for the influence it may bring on thoughtful insight. I hope more and more people absorb your common sense and apply it in their attitudes and behaviour. Good luck !

  8. Hey ……..
    You are such a dream!….
I was 4 years old in SA – came back to Canning Town ….my Dad stuck his head out as a Doctor – he copted it …wheeled a patient across the road into the ‘black hospital …..threw his fists about and saved a life – got away at the time cos he was ‘English’ Doc….. he saved that life – we were followed by the SS – … We came back and spread the word …..grew up defending ….to this day – they dont understand. My grandad was a commando – hard as ya like from the gas works in canning town – he never spoke about the war …. we wold’nt be here if Polish men hadnt thrown themselves against the guns and smashed the nazis in the skies and won.

to this day – mates with kids getting screamed ‘Paki’ on their way to school – Indian and gentle as ya like….!

  9. This design is steller! You definitely know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own
blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more
than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  10. Hi Hollie, I have been meaning say this for ages since seeing you perform a couple of years ago at a Latitude music festival.

You made my eyes stream, when you spoke your poem written whilst carrying your baby, I thought you were just brilliant. You are gifted.

The reminder to get in touch was the poem you have made for the page 3 campaign, I heard it yesterday, fantastic.

All the best to you x

  11. Mathmatics:
At school I crunched numbers, loved my pure maths and my statistics but had no time for my English class, The literature was okay, I enjoyed a good book, but poetry, what was the point?
If only you had been there to open my eyes then, you did more for my appreciation of the whole genre in 2 minutes than my teachers did in 3 years.
Apologies Mrs. Woodhouse, you were right.

  12. This is the disease I want to have, to speak in delirium, sweating, burning from fever.
I want to be overwhelmed by this germ of the brave, by this plague that should last forever.
Opinion is one, protest is another, …..but to speak for many irrelevant of who-they-are…?
That is a gift, a gift of bright light, a diamond like elemental speck shaped into a mist of pure spirit…..something ours, so commonly shared that it should be called – home!
A place for us all to be found, a place of comfort, no designated space no time, without doors or a lock…but a place of being one…not me or you, not me and you, not us or them….just pure compassion, hands joined……and a smile!

Thank you! You make this world a better place!

  13. Hollie (or reader)

I have come across Hollie accidentally. I have never been a fan of poetry until now.Hollie has an amazing talent to get across a message in a meaningful way. Her topics are relevant and insightful. Her presentation is faultless, her poetry – flawless.I am floored by all of this and really want to let Hollie know that her work is inspiring and moving – and this, from a 60 y o mother of 3 + 2 (step) and 4 (nearly 5) grandchildren.

Hollie, you have become my new hero. Your topics are relevant and not self indulgent (as I have found much poetry to be). Your delivery is realistic and believable.

You have my greatest admiration, and I will promote your work to everyone I come across.

More than that, I thank you for your insightful delivery and fearlessness in dealing with difficult topics in such a positive and honest way.

    Thank you,

  14. I have just seen your video about breastfeeding and I feel elated, excited, sad and amazed! Personally I haven’t fed in a toilet and I never would screw what people think. I am currently feeding my 4 month old and I fed my now 4 year old for 9 months. Thank you from the bottom of my heart xx

  15. Hallo Hollie, I have just heard you on the bbc radio 4 program poetry please. You are going to awaken an understanding and love for poetry in my two girls who have had literary upbringing but still do not get my love for your art.
Everything you write perfectly describes what we women and mothers have going around in our heads and hearts. You now have 3 new fans. We will spread he word in Holland and the continent!

  16. Hi Hollie, I’m contacting from WholeWorldBand in Dublin and would like an email address to send you some information about us, and hopefully interest you in putting some of your work on our new pioneering platform,
look forward to hearing from you,
all the best, Christine Sheridan- Talent and Artists, WholeWorldBand
ps I see you are at Cúirt in April, its a fantastic festival, hope to catch you there, C

  17. Hi Hollie,
I have a night called Vocool which is an open mic and showcase night of music, comedy and poetry. I have only recently heard your work and love your work. I would be very interested in you reciting some of your poems at vocool. I’m having the Easter show on Thursday the 17th April, if you’re not available then maybe we can look at more future dates. Vocool is usually on the last Friday of the month so hopefully we can find a date if interested. Here’s my number too if you would like to speak with me about it, 07956149209,

  18. This kind of happened. I haven’t written in a long time and someone put me on to you and your work. Thanks

    I didn’t lose my keys
    I didn’t lose my phone
    I didn’t lose my wallet
    I didn’t lose my home

I couldn’t find my shoes for a while
    but eventually they showed up
I couldn’t find my smile for a while
but the corners of my frown perked up
    I haven’t lost my mind (I think)
and I haven’t lost my friends

But every time I lose my words, it’s a torture that won’t end.

It’s like the cup is overflowing
the dam is about to burst
I can barely write my name
let alone poem, song or verse.
It weighs just like the sky on the shoulders of the gods.
I need the release, the out
to give some control to my thoughts

Even now I have a break
A brief respite before I return
To the despair of my block
and the freedom for which I yearn.
